MARECHIARO

We've drawn our inspiration for this distinctive silhouette from Marechiaro, a small village located in what is now the Posillipo section of Naples. In the 1960's, this neighborhood became a symbol of the high life, attracting Hollywood stars to its traditional restaurants with views of the splendid panorama of the city and, beyond that, Mt. Vesuvius and the island of Capri. Legend has it that the Neapolitan poet and writer Salvatore Di Giacomo, upon seeing a carnation resting on a small windowsill, was struck with the idea for the famous Neapolitan song, Marechiaro.
